You're following an Australian pattern in meters, but your shop cuts in yards. Or you're ordering Japanese fabric listed in centimeters. Or a UK pattern calls for 150 cm wide fabric and you need to know if your 44" bolt works. Type in any measurement, get all the equivalents at once.
Worth memorizing: 1 yard is about 0.91 meters. 1 meter is about 1.09 yards. Close enough for quick mental math, but not close enough to skip the real conversion when you're buying for a whole quilt. Small rounding errors compound across multiple fabrics.
Always round up after converting. If the math says 2.03 meters, buy 2.1 or 2.25. Coming up short because you rounded down on a conversion is an avoidable mistake — especially when that fabric is sold out by the time you realize it.
