Scale a quilt to a different size
Resize a quilt pattern to fit a target size. Enter your original layout and the target dimensions to see scaled measurements rounded to cuttable sizes.

Target size
You can't just multiply everything by a scale factor and call it done. Block sizes need to land on cuttable measurements — your rotary ruler doesn't do 4.37". This calculator rounds to 1/8" increments so every dimension is something you can actually cut and sew accurately.
Sew one test block at the new size before cutting all your fabric. Small rounding differences per block compound across a whole quilt top. If the scaled block feels awkward to piece, adjust your border width to absorb the difference instead of forcing an uncomfortable block measurement.
Don't forget to recalculate yardage — scaling up 30% can increase fabric needs by more than 30% because of cutting layout inefficiencies. Cotton batting also shrinks 3-5% after the first wash, so factor that into your target size.
Save your calculations, log fabric purchases, and see your project through to the gallery.
