Glossary of quilting terms and acronyms
Pattern instructions assume you know these abbreviations. A quick scan before you start cutting saves the frustration of stopping mid-project to look something up. Even experienced quilters hit unfamiliar terms when branching into new techniques like FPP or EPP — this reference puts everything in one searchable place.
The technical abbreviations (WOF, RST, HST, SA) show up in almost every pattern. The community acronyms are just as important if you're joining online groups or following along with a QAL. You'll see UFO, WIP, and PhD used constantly — they describe the project backlog we all accumulate.
And then there are the fun ones: SABLE (Stash Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy), PhD (Projects half Done), TGIF (Thank God It's Finished), FART (Fabric Acquisition Road Trip). The quilting community doesn't take itself too seriously, and the acronyms prove it.
Save your calculations, log fabric purchases, and see your project through to the gallery.
